Travel in Oslo!
Oslo's city hall

Last month, when the group decided to go to Stockholm in April, I chose not to join them this time. I had already visited Stockholm with my family a few years ago, six years ago, to be exact, and I still have memories of it. It’s a great city to visit, but this time, I really wanted to discover a new place from scratch. That’s why I chose Oslo. Some friends of mine had recommended it, saying it was a beautiful city worth seeing. And since it’s quite close to Vilnius, it seemed like the perfect destination.

Unfortunately, the trip coincided with Moïse’s visit to Vilnius. As Delvin mentioned in another article, Moïse was in town for just one night and a day. Still, I managed to grab a beer (or two) with them before heading to the airport. In fact, we left the bar around 2 a.m., and my flight was scheduled before 6 a.m., so I decided not to sleep at all before reaching the airport, afraid I might miss my alarm. I managed to catch two hours of sleep before landing in Oslo.

Upon arrival, I had to take a train to reach the city center. I was so tired that I almost missed my stop. I arrived at around 8 a.m., knowing it would be a long day ahead, especially since I could only check into my apartment at 3 p.m. I hoped to rest for a while at a bakery, but after roaming the streets for two hours without finding anything open, I finally checked online and realized it was a public holiday, something that would affect most of my stay, as it was Holy Week.

Despite the closures, I still explored the city. The grey, cloudy skies made it less enjoyable at first, but I visited a museum where I had the chance to see the famous painting The Scream. I spent the rest of the day trying to catch up on the sleep I had missed the night before.

The following day turned out to be the best! The sun was shining, and I spent hours enjoying the parks and visiting different sites around the city. Unfortunately, the weather turned cloudy again the next morning, but I still visited the Viking Museum and even explored a nearby island. That evening, I caught my flight back to Vilnius.

In conclusion, as my friends had told me, Oslo is a beautiful city, especially when the sun is shining! I would also say that three days are enough to see most of it if you don’t plan to visit every museum. Overall, it was a great experience traveling alone and discovering a new city entirely on my own!
