Moïse’s Trip to Vilnius

This week, we had the opportunity to welcome Moïse Crochet. For five days, he traveled across Europe to visit some Erasmus students, and Vilnius was his last stop!

We had one evening and an entire day to make him experience our Erasmus life in Vilnius. We didn’t prepare a full schedule, we only made a list of things to do. The goal was to enjoy the present moment and decide what to do depending on our feelings and mood.

On the first evening, we started by introducing him to Lithuanian gastronomy. Lithuanian food and specialities aren't very complicated and doesn't taste similar to food in France. Most of the dishes are based on potatoes. Potatoes are cooked in every possible form. Moïse tried mashed potatoes and meat (which was very salty).

After this delicious meal, we brought him to our "second home," the +++ .

The next day, the sun was shining as we had never seen since the beginning of our Erasmus : 25 degrees, a record!
We wanted to enjoy the sunshine, so we started with a fresh drink and a coffee on a terrace by the river to wake up slowly. Then, it was time to eat. We decided to try another famous Lithuanian speciality for summer: the pink soup. It’s based on beetroots. Personally, I didn’t like it, unlike Moïse and the others. According to them, it was good but not exceptional, not as tasty as famous meals in France.

With the same spontaneous spirit, we walked around the city and through a small park with ducks, where we played giant chess. We took a break with a fresh drink at a rooftop bar. We wanted to enjoy the sun as much as possible (after three months without it!).

We continued with Gediminas Tower, the main attraction of Vilnius, where we had a beautiful view over the city at sunset.

We ended the day with some snacks at a restaurant and had a last drink on a terrace near Moïse’s hostel, because he had a very early flight the next morning.

It was a real pleasure to welcome him into our little world of the past few months. Sharing our Erasmus experience with him was amazing. Taking some time to talk with Moïse made us realize even more how lucky we are to live this Erasmus adventure. These days will definitely be some of the most unforgettable moments of our Erasmus. Thank you Moïse <3
